A light and refreshing summer sangria combining juicy watermelon, zesty lemonade, and crisp white wine, perfect for backyard gatherings and casual parties.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups seedless watermelon, cubed
  • 3 cups lemonade, freshly squeezed or store-bought
  • 1 bottle (750 ml) dry white wine (Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, or light Chardonnay)
  • 2 fresh lemons, thinly sliced
  • A handful of fresh mint leaves, gently bruised (optional)
  • 1 cup club soda or sparkling water
  • 12 tablespoons honey or simple syrup (optional, depending on lemonade sweetness)
  • Ice cubes

Instructions

  1. Prepare the fruit by cutting seedless watermelon into 1-inch cubes (about 4 cups). Thinly slice 2 lemons into rounds, removing any seeds. Gently bruise a handful of fresh mint leaves to release oils.
  2. In a large pitcher, pour 3 cups of lemonade followed by the entire 750 ml bottle of dry white wine. Stir gently to combine. If lemonade is not very sweet, add 1 to 2 tablespoons of honey or simple syrup and stir until dissolved.
  3. Add the watermelon cubes, lemon slices, and bruised mint leaves to the pitcher. Stir gently once to distribute the fruit evenly without crushing.
  4. Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, ideally 2 hours, to let flavors meld and chill.
  5. Just before serving, add 1 cup of chilled club soda or sparkling water to the pitcher and stir gently.
  6. Serve over ice cubes, making sure each glass gets some fruit chunks. Garnish with extra mint sprigs or lemon wheels if desired.

Notes

Use ripe watermelon for best flavor. Stir gently to avoid crushing fruit and making the sangria cloudy. Chill for 1-2 hours for optimal flavor infusion. Add sparkling water just before serving to keep fizz. For non-alcoholic version, omit wine and add extra sparkling water or white grape juice. Adjust sweetness to taste with honey or simple syrup.
