These easy cheesy ham sliders on soft Hawaiian rolls are a quick, crowd-pleasing snack or party recipe featuring melty Swiss and sharp cheddar cheese with a buttery glaze.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pack (12 count) Hawaiian rolls (preferably King’s Hawaiian)
  • 1 pound thinly sliced deli ham or leftover cooked ham (smoked or honey-glazed optional)
  • 8 ounces Swiss cheese, sliced
  • 4 ounces sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons yellow mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon poppy seeds (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 9×13-inch baking dish by lightly greasing or lining with parchment paper.
  2. Carefully slice the Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally, keeping the buns connected as a block. Place the bottom halves in the baking dish, pressing them together gently.
  3. Layer the ham slices evenly over the bottom buns.
  4. Add the Swiss cheese slices on top of the ham.
  5. Sprinkle shredded sharp cheddar cheese over the Swiss cheese layer.
  6. Place the top halves of the Hawaiian rolls on the cheese layer, pressing down gently to compact the sliders slightly.
  7. In a small bowl, whisk together melted butter, yellow mustard, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, garlic powder, and poppy seeds until combined.
  8. Generously brush the butter glaze over the top of the slider buns, covering every inch.
  9. Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil and bake for 15 minutes.
  10. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 5 to 7 minutes until the top is golden and the cheese is bubbly and melted.
  11. Let the sliders rest for 5 minutes before slicing into individual servings.

Notes

Do not skip the butter glaze for the best crust and flavor. Keep the rolls connected when slicing to make baking and serving easier. Let sliders rest before slicing to avoid messy cheese pulls. For dairy-free, use vegan butter and dairy-free cheese. For gluten-free, substitute gluten-free rolls. Avoid microwaving leftovers to prevent chewy rolls; reheat in oven instead.
