Perfect French 75 cocktail - featured image

A crisp, elegant cocktail combining botanical gin, fresh lemon juice, simple syrup, and sparkling champagne, perfect for celebrations and easy to prepare in under 10 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ounces London Dry Gin (e.g., Bombay Sapphire or Tanqueray)
  • 1 ounce fresh lemon juice (about half a large lemon)
  • 1/2 ounce simple syrup (homemade or store-bought)
  • 3 ounces champagne or sparkling wine (Brut or Extra Dry, well chilled)
  • Lemon twist for garnish

Instructions

  1. Chill your champagne flute or coupe glass in the fridge or freezer for about 10 minutes.
  2. Squeeze 1 ounce of fresh lemon juice and strain out seeds and pulp.
  3. In a cocktail shaker, combine 2 ounces gin, 1 ounce lemon juice, and 1/2 ounce simple syrup.
  4. Fill the shaker halfway with ice and shake vigorously for 10-15 seconds until well chilled.
  5. Strain the mixture into the pre-chilled glass, filling it about halfway.
  6. Slowly pour 3 ounces of champagne or sparkling wine into the glass to preserve bubbles.
  7. Twist a thin strip of lemon peel over the glass to release oils, then drop it in as garnish.

Notes

Always use fresh lemon juice for best flavor. Chill the glass and sparkling wine to maintain fizz. Pour champagne slowly to avoid overflow. Gin can be substituted with vodka for a cleaner taste. For a low-alcohol version, reduce gin and increase sparkling wine. Simple syrup can be omitted or replaced with a sugar substitute for a sugar-free cocktail.
