These irresistible stuffing fritters are crispy on the outside, soft and flavorful on the inside, and paired with a velvety gravy dipping sauce for a comforting and delicious treat.

  • 3 cups leftover stuffing (any type)
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour (or gluten-free flour)
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (panko recommended)
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar or Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • Cooking oil for shallow frying (vegetable or canola oil)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups chicken or vegetable broth
  • 1/2 cup milk or cream
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the leftover stuffing, beaten eggs, flour, breadcrumbs, and cheese. Mix until well combined. If the mixture feels too wet, add a bit more breadcrumbs until it holds together.
  2. Scoop out small portions of the mixture and shape them into balls or patties, about 2 inches in diameter.
  3. In a large frying pan, heat about 1/4 inch of oil over medium heat. To test, drop a small piece of bread into the oilβ€”it should sizzle but not burn.
  4. Working in batches, fry the fritters for 2-3 minutes per side or until golden brown. Remove them with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  5. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes to form a roux. Gradually whisk in the broth and milk, stirring constantly to avoid lumps.
  6. Mix in the thyme, salt, and pepper. Cook the gravy for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens to your desired consistency. Keep warm.
  7. Arrange the fritters on a plate and serve with the warm gravy in a bowl for dipping.
