A delicious fusion of cheesy garlic bread and savory sloppy joe filling, perfect for family dinners or casual gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 medium yellow onion, finely diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 loaf French bread, sliced into 1-inch thick pieces
  • 1/4 cup butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C).
  2. In a small bowl, mix softened butter with garlic powder and a pinch of salt to prepare garlic butter. Set aside.
  3. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned and fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess grease.
  4. Add diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook for 2-3 minutes until softened and fragrant.
  5. Lower the heat to medium and stir in ketchup, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, smoked paprika, chili powder, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens and coats the meat.
  6. Lay sliced French bread on a baking sheet. Spread garlic butter evenly on each slice.
  7. Spoon sloppy joe filling onto each slice of garlic bread. Top with shredded mozzarella cheese.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Optional: Broil for 1-2 minutes for extra golden and bubbly cheese, keeping a close eye to prevent burning.
  10. Remove from the oven, sprinkle with fresh parsley, and serve warm.
