A quick and easy recipe combining sweet honey, spicy black pepper, tender chicken, and creamy pasta for a comforting and indulgent meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, sliced into thin strips
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and freshly cracked black pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 8 ounces penne pasta
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • Fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the penne pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually around 8-10 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the sliced chicken breasts, 2 tablespoons olive oil, 1 tablespoon soy sauce, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Toss until the chicken is well coated.
  3. Heat your skillet over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned chicken strips and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, lower the heat to medium. Add 1/4 cup honey, 2 tablespoons soy sauce, 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar, and 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes. Stir well. Combine 1 teaspoon cornstarch with 2 tablespoons water, then add to the sauce to thicken. Cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring constantly, until the sauce is glossy and slightly thickened.
  5. In a smaller saucepan, melt 1 tablespoon butter over low heat. Add 1 cup heavy cream and simmer gently for 2-3 minutes, stirring to avoid scalding. Stir in 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese and mix until fully melted and smooth. Add a pinch of black pepper for flavor.
  6. Add the cooked pasta to the creamy sauce and toss to coat well. Then, stir in the cooked chicken and pour the honey pepper sauce over the pasta. Mix everything together until the chicken and pasta are evenly coated.
  7. Transfer the pasta to a serving dish and sprinkle freshly chopped parsley on top for a pop of color. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

[‘Cut the chicken into even strips to ensure even cooking.’, ‘Don’t overcrowd the skillet to achieve a golden crust on the chicken.’, ‘Adjust the spice level by modifying the amount of red pepper flakes.’, ‘Heat the cream gently and stir continuously to prevent curdling.’, ‘Taste as you go to adjust sweetness or spice levels.’]
