Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 salmon fillets (about 1.5 pounds, skin-on or skinless)
  • 1 bunch fresh asparagus (trimmed, about 12 oz)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (or more, to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Fresh chopped parsley or dill (optional garnish)
  • Lemon wedges (for serving)
  • Sesame seeds (optional garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a large rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper or foil.
  2. Snap off woody ends of asparagus and arrange in a single layer on one side of the baking sheet. Drizzle with 1 tablespoon olive oil, season with 1/4 teaspoon salt and a pinch of pepper, and toss to coat.
  3. Pat salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Place skin-side down beside asparagus. Drizzle with remaining 1 tablespoon olive oil and sprinkle with 1/4 teaspoon salt and black pepper.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together honey, minced garlic, soy sauce, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, and red pepper flakes (if using) until smooth.
  5. Spoon or brush about 2/3 of the glaze over the salmon fillets, reserving the rest for finishing.
  6. Roast in the oven for 12-15 minutes, until salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork. Asparagus should be bright green and slightly crisp.
  7. Optional: Broil for 1-2 minutes for extra caramelization, watching closely to prevent burning.
  8. Remove from oven and drizzle remaining glaze over salmon and asparagus. Garnish with chopped parsley, dill, sesame seeds, and lemon wedges if desired.
  9. Serve immediately, spooning pan juices over each serving.

Notes

For best results, use fillets of similar thickness and pat salmon dry before glazing. Broil briefly for extra caramelization, but watch closely to avoid burning. Tamari can be used for gluten-free diets. Swap asparagus for green beans or broccolini if desired. Leftovers keep well in the fridge for up to 3 days.
