A quick and easy creamy herb dip perfect for parties, potlucks, and casual get-togethers. This dip combines fresh herbs with a smooth, creamy base for a bright and indulgent flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (240g) sour cream
  • 1/2 cup (120g) cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh chives, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh basil, chopped (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder (or 1 small clove fresh garlic, minced)
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt (adjust to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
  • Optional: 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Optional: 1 teaspoon honey

Instructions

  1. Soften the cream cheese by leaving it out of the fridge for about 30 minutes until soft but not melting.
  2. Rinse and dry the fresh herbs (parsley, chives, dill, basil) and finely chop them.
  3. In a medium mixing bowl, combine sour cream, softened cream cheese, and mayonnaise. Whisk or fork blend until smooth and creamy, about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Stir in garlic powder, onion powder, kosher salt, black pepper, and fresh lemon juice. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
  5. Gently fold in the chopped herbs, ensuring even distribution without bruising.
  6. If desired, stir in smoked paprika or honey for added flavor depth.
  7. Cover the dip with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, ideally 2-3 hours, to let flavors meld.
  8. Before serving, stir the dip and taste again, adjusting salt or lemon juice if necessary.

Notes

Use fresh herbs for best flavor and color. Soften cream cheese before mixing to avoid lumps. Chill dip for at least 1 hour to let flavors meld. If dip is too thick after chilling, whisk in a teaspoon of cold water or milk to loosen. Adjust salt carefully as mayonnaise and cream cheese contain salt. Optional add-ins like smoked paprika or honey add depth. Variations include dairy-free, low-fat, spicy, and seasonal herb substitutions.
