These creamy, minty Oreo truffles are an easy, irresistible treat perfect for St. Patrick’s Day or any festive occasion. They combine smooth cream cheese, crushed Oreos, and a hint of peppermint, coated in white chocolate.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 36 Oreo Cookies, crushed finely (about 1 cup of crumbs)
  • 8 ounces (225 grams) cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup (120 grams) powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • A few drops green food coloring (optional)
  • 12 ounces (340 grams) white chocolate chips
  • Crushed Oreos for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Crush the Oreos: Place about 36 Oreo cookies in a food processor and pulse until finely ground (about 1 cup of crumbs). Alternatively, crush in a zip-top bag with a rolling pin. Set aside. (5 minutes)
  2. Cream the cream cheese: Beat the softened 8 ounces (225g) cream cheese with an electric mixer until smooth and creamy, about 2 minutes.
  3. Add powdered sugar and peppermint extract: Gradually add 1 cup (120g) powdered sugar, beating until fully incorporated. Mix in 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract and a few drops of green food coloring if using. The mixture should be smooth and evenly colored. (3 minutes)
  4. Fold in crushed Oreos: Gently fold in the Oreo crumbs, mixing just until combined. If too crumbly, add a tiny splash of milk to adjust. (2 minutes)
  5. Form truffles: Roll the mixture into 1-inch (2.5 cm) balls using a small cookie scoop or hands and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Makes about 24 truffles. (10 minutes)
  6. Chill: Refrigerate the truffles for at least 30 minutes to firm up.
  7. Melt white chocolate: Melt 12 ounces (340g) white chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth. (5 minutes)
  8. Dip truffles: Using a fork or dipping tool, dip each chilled truffle into the melted white chocolate, letting excess drip off, then place back on parchment paper. (15 minutes)
  9. Garnish and set: Sprinkle crushed Oreos on top before the coating hardens. Let truffles sit at room temperature or in the fridge until coating firms completely. (30 minutes)

Notes

Let cream cheese sit at room temperature for 30 minutes before mixing for best texture. Crush Oreos finely for smooth truffles. Melt white chocolate in short bursts to avoid burning. Chill truffles well before dipping to maintain shape. If white chocolate thickens during dipping, warm briefly again.
