A rich and velvety chocolate fondue made with a blend of dark and milk chocolate, heavy cream, and a hint of vanilla and sea salt for a luscious dipping experience.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces (225 grams) dark chocolate (60-70% cocoa), chopped
  • 4 ounces (115 grams) milk chocolate, chopped
  • 1 cup (240 ml) heavy cream, room temperature
  • 2 tablespoons (28 grams) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of sea salt (about 1/8 teaspoon)
  • Optional dippers: strawberries, banana slices, marshmallows, pound cake cubes, pretzels, biscotti

Instructions

  1. Chop the dark and milk chocolate into small, even pieces and set aside.
  2. Pour heavy cream into a double boiler or heatproof bowl over simmering water and heat gently until hot but not boiling (about 3-4 minutes).
  3. Stir in softened butter and sea salt until melted and combined.
  4. Gradually add chopped chocolate to the hot cream mixture, stirring constantly until melted and glossy (about 5-7 minutes).
  5. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
  6. Pour the chocolate fondue into a warm serving dish or fondue pot to keep it melty. Stir in a splash of warm cream if it thickens too much.
  7. Serve immediately with your choice of dippers.

Notes

Use room temperature cream to avoid chocolate seizing. Stir consistently and melt chocolate slowly over gentle heat. If chocolate seizes, stir in a tablespoon of warm cream slowly until smooth. For dairy-free version, substitute heavy cream with coconut cream and butter with coconut oil.
